A GRIEF OBSERVED

On a sunny day in March, Brian and Tiffany Aronson traveled from Waterloo, Iowa for an interview in Cedar Falls. Brian and Tiffany sat side-by-side on a small, gray sofa. They sat close to one another, Brian’s body turned toward Tiffany’s. They talked together, often completing one another’s sentences. In one emotional moment, the writer asked them what they felt they needed to get through the day, a question that often prompts discussions of faith, best friends, and other parents who have known the loss of a child. But Brian said Tiffany and Tiffany said Brian. They needed each other to get through that day.
