Buzzy’s Board Updates

At Buzzy’s Bees we are fortunate to have talented and committed individuals who serve on our board. Their diverse skills and backgrounds combine to provide leadership as we continue to grow and serve families who have unexpectedly lost a young child. In recent months we have welcomed two new board members and said farewell to one.

Nicole Smith joined the board in May, 2020. Her perspective as a funeral director brought unique insights. The pandemic created challenges for us and she helped navigate through that time. In early 2022 her professional life offered new opportunities and responsibilities and we accepted her resignation in March. We thank her for her 2 years of service and wish her well!

In late 2021 Amy Kutzky accepted the Board Treasurer position. Amy met our president, Amanda, through their BNI networking group. She fell in love with Buzzy’s Bees’ mission to support parents going through the worst event imaginable. She shared,”My mom lost a child between having me and my sister. The resources for parents going through this nightmare at that point were non-existent. If there were groups and services back then I can imagine how much of a difference that would have made for her and my dad. Amy is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience and owns Oak Hill Tax and Accounting in Newberg, Oregon. She and her husband live on a Christmas tree farm in Yamhill, Oregon with their two children, Max and Emma.

Kelly Tilford joined Buzzy’s Bees as a committee volunteer in 2021, handling key details of Give Grief a Voice family communication and eventually became its project management. She is also active on the Outreach and Development Committees. In 2022 she was appointed to the board. An attorney, Kelly has always been interested in the nonprofit sector. She’s enthusiastic about

governance and strategy. Her nickname at her last position was “Bylaws.”
