In just two weeks we will be going live online with our 2020 Give Grief a Voice Art Exhibit and Auction. You can get a sense of the impact that the storytelling and art make in the lives of families who’ve lost a child from this brief glimpse of the day the families received their art. Learn more about how to join us here.
This week we introduce Famke Schoonbergen-Vining. She resides in Hillsboro and is originally from The Netherlands. She studied there and earned her degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Famke moved to the US in 2007. Here she shares her path to becoming one of our Give Grief a Voice artists.
“After focusing on being a mom, I tried to start my career as a designer. I definitely gravitate more toward illustrating and painting. When I discovered painting with alcohol ink, it was the first time I created abstract art. It felt free. Free from being so precise like I was taught in school. Painting made me grow in such a pleasant and joyful way.
The story I received from Buzzy’s Bees touched my heart. As a mom, I cannot imagine how hard it is to go through times like this. I am feeling so grateful for getting to know about this charity and the work they are doing.
I can only hope that the piece I create will give the family joy, experiencing it…thinking of the beautiful soul that they are missing.”
