Rethinking Stages of Grief
Grief has been with me for seven long years. It has taken a lot of unpacking and processing to sit where I do today. I recognized early in my grieving that it is about
The 6th Annual Buzzy’s Golf Tournament came to town on Saturday, June 4th, 2022. There was fun for all ages with an 18 hole par-3 competition in the morning and then our traditional mini-golf tournament and luncheon party.
On October 23, 2021, we hosted an intimate afternoon gathering of love, art, and camaraderie at Hop Capital Brewing in southwest Portland, as we unveiled the commissioned art pieces inspired by the 13 families who shared their stories with our Give Grief a Voice project this year.
We typically hold our annual golf event in the spring, but this year our planning committee opted to push it to August with the hopes that our entirely outdoor event could go on without a Covid hitch - and we were right!
A series of online and socially distanced fundraising events.
The 2020 GGAV transitioned to a virtual event. We hosted a free-to-attend, live-streamed show. The evening included a pre-event music and a cocktail demonstration followed by the live event.
We had an estimated 75 people show up in person (masked up!) across all 3 mini-mini-sites and there were many more photos posted on our Facebook Event of happy golfers from all over the nation. With your help we were able to raise $3,324.11! These donations will be used to support families who are grieving the unexpected loss of a child.
On Saturday, October 19th, 2019, about 70 people gathered for our first Give Grief a Voice art exhibition and benefit at Cerulean Winery in Portland, Oregon. We heard from folks throughout the night about how touched they are by the project and the work we are doing to support bereaved families.
Once again we were the charity of the day at The Oregon Public House. This year, tying in with our new Give Grief a Voice writing and art program, we hosted painting parties. Buzzy's supporters explored their creative side all afternoon and evening. Kids painted wooden bee cut outs in the early afternoon and during happy hour we held instructor-led guided bee-themed canvas paintings. Thank you to those who attended, enjoyed some food and drink, and supported Buzzy's!
Thank you to all who were able to attend and support our 3rd Annual Mini Golf Tournament on May 4, 2019. At the start we paused to honor the memory of the children of 9 families. Many were able to join us golfing, adding laughter – and a few extra strokes – to the game. It’s exciting to share that this year we doubled both our attendance and funds raised!
Our 2nd annual mini golf tournament was held on May 5, 2018 at Tualatin Island Greens in Tualatin, Oregon. Many Buzzy's supporters came together for a good time and to raise money that will go to support families who have lost a young child.
On Monday, February 19, 2018 we were Charity of the Day at Oregon Public House. Proceeds from all food and drinks purchased were donated to Buzzy's. We hosted a variety of events throughout the day including Bingo, kid's kareoke, literary readings, and live music.
On April 29, 2017 a lunch and mini-golf tournament was held at Eagle Landing Golf Course in Happy Valley. All greens fees were donated to the Buzzy's Bees Foundation. This will be an annual event held each spring in the Portland area.
On January 21, 2017 an afternoon gala was held at the Mark Spencer Hotel in downtown Portland to officially launch Buzzy's Bees. More than $10,000 was raised for the Buzzy's Bees Foundation from a silent auction and donations.
